We've got a crush on the Ivy. It’s all dark and brooding, but also modern and new " there's so much innuendo and mystery, kind of like a blind date. The restaurant at
Porter & Frye is the perfect sophisticated setting to have a romantic encounter. The complexity of the experience continues as you look at the encyclopedic drink menu with pages of cocktails and mocktails.
There's one concoction that's particular that's alluring.
"Love, You Should've Come Over" will make you blush when you order it. Its name (and reputation? ) originate from a Jeff Buckley song. The drink is a mixture of fresh, muddled raspberries, a housemade raspberry syrup, Effen vodka and lime juice, which is topped off with zesty ginger beer and a few extra raspberries.
It was created by Rebecca Habeck and is now shaken up perfectly by bar manager Erikka Talley. Why now? The zippy drink goes well with the extensive bar menu (three kinds of sliders), it's the holiday season and flirting is always in style. Not that such infatuation needs to be rationalized. As Buckley sings it, "Cause it's not too late."
"Lover, You Should've Come Over”$10,
Porter & Frye Ivy, 201 S. 11th St., Mpls., 612-353-3500.
