Issue 20

The second location of
Spyhouse Coffee House is probably the undisputed best free internet/latte destination in Minneapolis right now.
Cushy booths
and 75 cent refills? If only they took reservations.
The most delicious treats, possibly on all of Hennepin Avenue, are the eclairs. Okay, so we found out they're actually imported from
Butter Bakery (we'll get the full scoop on them another day). No matter, these little bites of heaven work so well at Spyhouse, we'll give them the props for stocking them.
Each cream puff-shaped pastry has a light-as-air pate a choux (we kind of know French as it relates to dessert) shell covered with a thick layer of rich chocolate on top. The cream filling is rich-- like the best creamy vanilla pudding/frosting/whipped cream that you've ever had.
Once you've had one of these eclairs, you won't want any other. Plus, thanks to the aforementioned atmosphere, you can have your eclair and the internet too.
Eclairs, $3.50 each, from
Spyhouse Coffee House East, 2404 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls, 612-377-2278.
E-mail Eclair, we declare! to your friends
