Issue 25

There are some scents from your childhood that just stay with you. When we got a whiff of
Daub & Bauble's new arriba cacao and spice hand lotion and hand wash-- it took us back.
The latest concoction from the Hugo-based company (yes, Hugo!), started by husband and wife duo Rachel and Josh Berger, reminds us of the subtle nuances of a Bonnie Bell Lip Smacker or a Strawberry Shortcake doll. As weird as it sounds, that's a compliment! It's dreamy chocolate without trying too hard or being scratch-and-sniff literal. The lotion is smooth and rich and the soap has a strong almond undertone.
With the sophisticated and playful packaging, that's where comparison to the sweet smells of the past must end.
Finally, an indulgent way to satisfy your chocolate craving, without the calories. Plus, it's for grown-ups.
Arriba Cacao and Spice hand lotion and hand wash, $9 each, available online at
ebubbles.com and at Garden of Eden, 867 Grand Av., St. Paul, 651-293-1300 and select
Bachmans locations.
