Issue 26

A good bagel. Sorry Bruegger's and Einstein Bros., you just don't make the real deal per the standards set by the East (H&H) and West (Noah's) coasts. Rosemary and olive oil? We think not.
Luckily, there's a new deli in town. Mort's Delicatessen opened last year and is bringing serious deli-tude back to the Twin Cities. Majorly huge sandwiches, gianormous slices of cake and imported
H&H bagels are on the six-page menu. You might remember H&H as the bagelry where Kramer goes on strike on "Seinfeld" or you might just love the straightforward, slightly sweet bagels for their bready, chewy yumminess.
Every morning, the folks at Mort's bake off a fresh batch of plain, cinnamon raisin, everything and onion. Get there early for the freshest selection or buy them frozen and toast them at home. Since some consider H&H is synonymous with "bagel," you'll no longer be settling for blagels.
H&H Bagels, 99 cents each, available at
Mort's Delicatessen, 525 Winnetka Av. N., Golden Valley, 763-544-2900.
