If you've been in Minnesota long enough, you've probably crossed paths with a KOKOON dress.
They're cute, made of body-flattering jersey and often involve some sort of bold pattern or flirty feminine detail. Just last week, Robyne Robinson was spotted in one in New York.
The brand has been around for over 20 years. It started when designer Laine Sou Weinberg was a student at the University of Minnesota. She sewed some dresses and her boyfriend (now husband) Richard Weinberg took some of her frocks on a road trip in Florida and started taking orders for more. Over 20 years, two kids and many stores (Saks, Bloomies and Nordstrom, to name a few), the company now sells locally at Local Motion and through home parties, individuals and events across the country. So they define the business as "boutiques without borders."
These amazing dresses allow you to spread your wings -- and keep the brand flitting around the Twin Cities.
KOKOON, available at Local Motion (2813 Hennepin Av. S, Mpls., 612-871-8436).
