Issue 320

Some people veg out. Literally. Here are burger-ish options for those who want to go meat-free for a meal or forever.
Birchwood Cafe (3311 E 25th St, Mpls, 612-722-4474)
The
Black Bean Quinoa Burger (pictured) is so hearty you won't ask where's the beef. While fixings change, it's currently served with provolone, chioggia beets, balsamic and herb marinated red onion, parsley and fennel mayo on a multigrain bun.
Good Earth (Galleria, Edina, 952-925-1001 and Roseville, 1901 Highway 36 W, 651-636-0956)
The
Planet Burger is a local classic. The combination of adzuki and pinto beans, sunflower and sesame seeds, cashews and vegetables are high in protein. We recommend adding a slice of swiss.
Mill City Cafe (2205 California St, 612-788-6188)
The wild rice gives this house-made
Veggie burger a special made-in-Minnesota twist. It also includes black beans, veggies, nuts and is topped with melted provolone and chipotle aioli.
Wilde Roast Cafe (518 E Hennepin Av, Mpls, 612-331-4544)
Black beans, red peppers, garlic, artichokes and potatoes make
Chef Jeff's Veggie Burger more flavorful than it's meaty counterpart.
