Before computers took over the world, you saw a lot more handwriting.

Ever since email took over from snail mail, the art of calligraphy has been less prevalent.

Luckily it's not a lost art. Meet Queen Quills Calligraphy, a.k.a. Emily Snyder.

The Rochester native and lifelong artist stumbled into her current trade while working in a high-end stationery boutique in Manhattan. She studied at the Society of Scribes in New York before launching her own business a few years ago.

Now based in Minneapolis, Emily crosses t's and dots i's for private clients on everything from creating logos to addressing envelopes to writing place cards using a number of font styles from Sweet Bay to Mignonette to Whippoorwill.

It's safe to say that she has the write stuff.

Queen Quills Calligraphy, contact Emily through her website.

You can also get in touch during the Designer Meet and Greet (Joynoelle Boutique, 312 W 42nd St, Mpls, 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday). In addition to Queen Quills, the event will showcase local experts Emily Koski of Emily J Hair + Makeup, jewelry designer Penny Larson, Laura Nelli of Nelle, Lisa Roy of Flora Bella Studio, Molly Sullivan of Apiary Design and Joy Teiken of Joynoelle.
