Dearly Beloved, we will gather at the Mall of America on Thursday in the presence of witnesses (on a red carpet with actresses Kristen Wiig and Wendi McLendon-Covey!!!) to honor the fashion disaster known as the bridesmaid dress.

This is not an event to be entered into unadvisedly or lightly, but if you wear any variety of ill-fitting or puffy-sleeved bridesmaid frock, you can attend the advanced screening of the new movie Bridesmaids (see RSVP info below). The guest with the worst dress will win a trip to Las Vegas. (Way better than catching a bouquet.)

You will quickly forget about your polyester attire as soon as the new Kristen Wiig comedy starts. It is the perfect blend of cringey (Oh, Jon Hamm), laugh-out-loud hilarious (wow, fondue fountain and puppies) and sing-along sweetness (welcome back, Wilson Phillips). Ironically, the on-screen dresses are quite lovely.

No matter, you may now kiss your hideous dress... for giving you early admittance to this joyous film.

Bridesmaids screening, 7 p.m. on Thursday, Theatres at Mall of America. RSVPs will be accepted until the theater is filled (probably TODAY) at rsvp@nemerfieger.com. In your email, please include your name and confirm that you will be wearing a dress to the screening. ALL GUESTS ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR A BRIDESMAIDS DRESS! If space is available, you will receive an e-ticket to the screening. To enter the contest (age 18 and up), you must check in between 5:30 and 6 p.m. The top 20 will be asked to pose for a photo with Kristen Wiig on the red carpet. The winner of the worst bridesmaid dress contest will win a trip for two to Las Vegas.
