Hey you, with the brilliant book idea. You know you have at least one. Well, if you like books, conversation and wine and cheese, get your pens out and warm up your computer, because we have the perfect night out planned for you.
Eat, Drink and Get Published launched just over a year ago by Edina neighbors and lit junkies Becca Sorensen, an arts publicist and Jen Samuel, author of "52 Fights: A Newlywed's Confession." Once a month, the 40 to 75 regulars gather in the wine cellar at France 44 to tackle a specific topic.Tonight it's "Historical Fiction" with Robert Alexander who wrote The Romanov Bride. On May 11 (same time, same place), aspiring memoirists can get advice from Laura M. Flynn, author of Swallow the Ocean and on June 15, it's all about self-publishing.
Inspired yet? Thus far, many of the attendees have started blogs and made connections for agents.
It's wallet-friendly, as in free, though there is an optional $10 wine (or blood orange spritzers) and cheese reception.
We know it's last minute, but luckily, it's not a book club, so you don't have read the book.Eat, Drink and Get Published, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., free or $10 for wine and cheese, tonight at France 44 Wines & Spirits, 4351 France Av. S., Mpls., 612-925-3252. For updates on future events, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
