These days you can customize just about anything -- jeans, laptops, boyfriends.
But let's face it: The basic product is already established. You're just gussying it up a little.
Not so with visionary party planning Style Stations at the Style Laboratory.
The new retail space in Gaviidae allows you to swing by and create an inspiration board for your wedding, Superbowl party, sweet sixteen or dinner party. Using one of the Style Stations, you can search on terms that inspire you -- such as "red" or "contemporary" or "cheesecake." Then the software will provide images from local vendors that correlate to your request. You pick your favorites and move them on the touch screen to a final board. Thanks to the many companies that have bought into the service, a printout costs a mere $5.
The idea came to events expert Geri Wolf during a screening of the September Issue. If it's good enough for Vogue, it surely could translate for party planning. Geri has developed the software and plans to open in 16 cities across the country.
Drop by to try it and walk out with ideas that you can recreate yourself or show your party planner/caterer/florist/future mother-in-law to show them what you're after for a one-of-a-kind bash.
Now that's a personal touch.
