Trolling garage sales, fending off scavengers. Shopping for bargains is spooky business.

For a trick-free treat, check out Peppermint Park, a new modern designer discount online boutique.

Browse the newly launched website for an impressive selection of clothes and accessories that are always dramatically marked down. You'll find: a BCBG top ($40, originally $196), a DKNY cozy ($39, originally $195), Rock & Republic jeans ($50, originally $246), a Marc by Marc Jacobs wallet ($46, originally $158) and tons of Gucci such as this Jockey medium tote ($542, originally $1495).

To shop online, you join for a membership fee of $10 per month. Then you shop. If you refer friends and they sign up, you'll get $10 in your account and a credit of 10 percent of everything they buy. This chart explains.

The e-tail site was started by Jessie Connors, who was a contestant on the first season of "The Apprentice." She now calls Minnesota home and was inspired to create the business to bring women together.

Lucky for us locals, the Peppermint Park people are opening up the warehouse once a month to the public for shopping parties (and cupcakes and cocktails), starting with a launch event this Saturday.

All in all, a scary-good experience.

Peppermint Park, VIP Launch Party on Saturday, May 8, 3 to 7 p.m. at the Peppermint Park Showroom (Northwind Lofts, 2400 N. 2nd Street, Suite 302, Mpls). Good from over 150 designers will be available during the event.
