With "Project Runway" returning on Thursday night, it's time to stretch your sewing muscles (i.e. dust off your machine).
Then open up the new book Sew Retro: 25 Vintage-Inspired Projects for the Modern Girl & A Stylish History of the Sewing Revolution.
You'll be able to gain a little perspective on the history of the retro look, dating back to the 1800s. Then try out some projects from the various eras like an opera bag (1920s), a hostess apron (1950s) and not-so-mini miniskirt (1960s).
It's published by Minneapolis-based Voyageur Press with local photographer (Jennifer Simonson), stylist (London Nelson) and a few recognizable models who make retro look fresh again.
Now it's up to you to make it work.
Sew Retro: 25 Vintage-Inspired Projects for the Modern Girl & A Stylish History of the Sewing Revolution by Judi Ketteler, $25.
