When it comes to frozen goodies, it's all about the red. And if you can't get your hands on red, then you'll take a yellow? but there's absolutely no way you're getting stuck with green. Ew.

Wait. Those are Legos colors. Not flavors.

For a taste of something other than icy Yellow No. 5, snack on a 10,000 Licks pop. Unlike the glow-in-the-dark tubes of frosty mystery, journalist Andi McDaniel and music therapist Sarah Newberry, use simple, local ingredients to freeze up flavors such as Watermelon Mint, Strawberry Basil, Lavender Lemon, Sweet Corn and Cantaloupe Ginger.

Sure beats the old one-two-your-entire-mouth's-blue.

10,000 Licks, available at Fulton Farmers' Market starting Saturday (7/23) with possible appearances at Midtown and Uptown. They'll be available for private events. On Saturday (7/23), they'll sample flavors at Mighty Swell?s Summer in the City vintage sale, 2 to 4 p.m., 3109 E. 42nd St., Mpls.
