Bolo ties, bonnets, leather chaps: There are plenty of reasons to be wary of Western wear, even in "Little House on the Prairie" country.
One reason it deserves a tip of your hat: Cobra Society boots.
Inspired by her everyday shoe needs, the 25-year-old Wayzata native, L.A.-based designer cobbled together four heights with three different Moroccan kilim rug options for the first collection suited for life on -- but mostly off -- the wild frontier.
Alex personally selected the village in Morocco to produce the rugs and also picked just the perfect 2-inch-heel and most flattering heights.
You can do the booties with long skirts, jeans and over the knee with cut-off denim shorts or a tunic dress. "They're very versatile, even though they're really wild," she says.
Just what you want to throw on at the spur of the moment.
Cobra Society Trunk Show, 1 to 10 p.m. on Monday, August 29, International Market Square, 275 Market St., Mpls. Also available at net-a-porter.com. They'll also be coming soon to Pumpz & Company.
