Celebrate
WAM! No, not the 1980s George Michael vehicle, but the soon-to-reopen
Weisman Art Museum (University of Minnesota
333 E River Rd, Mpls, 612-625-9494). The gala is on Saturday (sold out, but you can still go to the after-party for $50, 10 p.m. to midnight). And, for the museum's official public debut on Sunday, you'll be able to screenprint tees and prints with Bohemian Press (all day), pose during an architectural-inspired Gorilla Yogis session (Washington Av walking bridge, 1 p.m.), see a performance by Ananya Dance Theatre (3:30 p.m.) and by Rogue Valley (4 p.m.). By the by, Frank Gehry, we heart you, in general, and
this building, in particular.
See
Thanks to
Marie Claire, we are seriously suspicious of most breast cancer charity solicitations. However, we totally believe in the second annual
Celebration of Scars (5 to 8 p.m., Fox Egg Gallery, 3730 Chicago Av S, Mpls). The
project "explores all facets of living with the scars of breast cancer."
Get pretty
Even though we're night owls, we'll get up for glamour. The
Red Carpet Glamour makeup event at Nordstrom, if you must know. From 8 to 10 a.m. (Saturday, Mall of America, RSVP to 952-883-2121). See trends! Try products! Get insider tips! Tickets are $15, but are redeemable towards a cosmetics purchase during the event. Done. Deal.
Dress up
Yeah,
MNFashion Week is getting started! See one, see them all -- there's a lot on the
calendar! It kicks off tonight, but officially runs October 2 to 9. We're especially excited for the group "Little Black Dress" show. The dress code is pretty obvious...and classic.
Watch
We're going to be in the audience of
Twin Cities Live today for
Savvy.MN. Look for our smiling faces on the 3 p.m. (KSTP-5) broadcast. Whaaat? You'll be at the office? That's no excuse! Stay up (or DVR) the late-night replay.
